How RGN Trailers are also called?

RGN trailers, also called Removable Gooseneck trailers, are heavy-duty trailers designed for transporting large equipment. Their unique detachable front section, the gooseneck, allows the trailer to lower and create a ramp for easier loading and unloading. RGN trailers are perfect for moving big machines and construction equipment safely and efficiently.

Pros of using an RGN Trailer

  • The removable gooseneck allows these trailers to be used as a ramp to load large equipment, which makes it easy to onload and offload equipment.
  • The gooseneck is very low to the ground, allowing it to haul taller equipment, and keeps the equipment stable during transportation.
  • Some RGN trailers can be extended to fight very large loads.

Dimensions of Transported Equipment with an RGN Trailer

  • Maximum Freight Height: 11.6 ft (3.53 m)
  • Maximum Weight: 42,000 lbs (19,050.88 kg) to 150,000 lbs (68,039.85)
  • Main Deck Length: Usually about 29 ft (8.83 m)
  • Maximum Well Width: Usually about 11.6 ft (3.53 m)

What Are GRN Trailers Used For?

RGN stands for Removable Goose Neck. These trailers have been a leading form of transporting heavy equipment since the late 1950s. This is because of their ingenious ability to both load and offload large equipment using their gooseneck.

The gooseneck of these trailers is actually the hitch of the trailer, which is arched like a goose’s neck. On an RGN trailer, this neck connects to a large deck that can be lowered to easily onload and offload heavy equipment. These arched necks also give these trailers the ability to transport goods low to the ground.

Gravity is these trailers’ best friend during transportation. They can ride low to the ground, allowing heavy equipment to have a large center of gravity and stay stable during the ride. Being low to the ground also allows taller equipment to be transported, as it can clear more obstacles on the road.

What types of RGN Trailers can we use?

There are three types of RGN trailers:

  1. A single drop, a double drop, and a smaller one for Hot Shot Loads. The single deck drop has one drop in the front of the trailer after the gooseneck, with the rest of the trailer lying flat.
  2. A double drop has two drops, one on each end, creating a well in the middle. These two versions are often used to transport large industrial equipment.
  3. The Hot Shot Trailer is a smaller version of the RGN that is not regulated by the DOT. These smaller ones are often used to transport smaller equipment.

Please keep in mind that the width of these trailers can play a key role in deciding whether to use them. While they can carry 42,000 pounds (19,050 kilograms) worth of equipment, the equipment must be at most 11.6 feet (3.43 meters) high, usually at most around 29 feet (8.83 meters) long, and at most around 11.6 ft (3.53 meters) long. These trailers can give you peace of mind that your equipment can safely get delivered where you need it.

The following are some key points about RGN trailers:

  1. Full name: Removable Gooseneck Trailer.
  2. Key feature: Detachable Gooseneck that can be lowered to create a ramp.
  3. Common use: Transporting large, heavy machinery like construction equipment, cranes, and industrial equipment.

What is the difference between RGN trailer and Lowboy trailer?

The main difference between lowboy trailers and RGN trailers is how they are designed and how they load cargo. Lowboy trailers have a part called a gooseneck that is fixed in place, meaning it can’t be removed. On the other hand, RGN trailers have a removable gooseneck, which means that the front part of the trailer can be taken off and lowered to the ground. This feature makes it much easier to load and unload heavy items.

What do you haul on your RGN trailer?

A RGN trailer is designed to carry large and heavy machinery, such as excavators, tractors, drilling equipment, and even buses. This type of trailer has a special low deck and a ramp, making it easy to drive these big vehicles onto it. It’s perfect for transporting oversized equipment that wouldn’t fit easily on a regular flatbed trailer.

How much weight can a RGN haul legally?

RGN trailers are specially designed to carry really heavy loads, like large machinery or equipment. They can be set up with 20 or more wheels to handle weights of up to 150,000 pounds. The main part of the trailer, known as the well, is usually about 29 feet long, making it perfect for transporting oversized equipment like cranes and farming machines. The most popular setup for these trailers has two sets of wheels, allowing them to carry up to 40,000 pounds safely.

What is the maximum amount an RGN can scale?

An RGN trailer can carry anywhere from 42,500 to more than 150,500 pounds. Its capacity depends on its number of wheels and construction. This makes it an excellent option for moving heavy and large equipment.

Trailers are used for the transportation of various items.
